I have to tell you first that I have OCD and I am very clean with basically everything. I want everything organized, put away or thrown away. Last week, I had a ‘cleaning rush’ again and I freakin’ love it. But how can you clean your house quick and easy? Take a look at the following tips.
Do you like it?
If you are cleaning out your closet, ask yourself the question: do I like this piece and am I going to wear it? If the answer is no, throw it away! Also counts for other stuff. If you don’t like it anymore, throw it out.
Use an all-purpose cleaner
If you’ve thrown all your trash away, immediatly spray some all-purpose cleaner over the surface. Use one that smells fresh. It is so much easier if you use one product instead of having three different cleaning sprays.
For stuff that you have to store, say your closet, stationary, administration; use labels. Everything will be well organised and you will never ‘loose’ anything again.
Clean up your clothes
If you have clothes with stains or holes in it, throw it away or use your washing machine. The last thing you need is smelly dirty laundry on your floor.
Sort everything out
If you have many ones of a certain item, let’s say books, sort them out. If you don’t like certain books anymore, you can sell them. You can also give it away to someone who might really enjoy it.
Sometimes we put emotions on an item. I did the same. Memories are in your head, not on materials. Throw things away that have no purpose and just stand there catching dust. If your house is organized, your head is organized. Keep it clean and fresh so it won’t cause you any stress.
Do it quick
This might sound hard, but it’s actually very easy. Your intuïtion knows exactly if you like something or not. Don’t think too much about it and follow your gut. If you look at a piece of clothing and the first thought is ‘hate this thing’ then throw it out. Don’t overthink it.
