I’m a control freak, if you didn’t know this, you should read this article. I’m also highly organized and I love stationary. And I must say, I’m pretty good at planning too. This is how I do ‘it’.
I won’t call myself a master planner, but it sounded kinda funny, so there you have it. But I come close though!
1: Get a proper diary/agenda/desk planner
I still have a real agenda. Not on my phone, but on paper. Yes, the old skool one’s. And it has a pen holder too! And I can put cards in there and notes and all that crap. It’s great! If you want to be a master planner, you should get a proper planner. I prefer to have it on paper, so that I can write down quickly if I have appointments or things that I have to do or think about. It’s also faster than when you have to type it on your phone, especially if you have auto-correct. You also have one big overview of how your week looks like. It’s handy, trust me.
2: Have your priorities straight
Don’t ‘over plan’. Just take it easy and don’t set double appointments at the same time. That’s what the planner is for. So that you don’t fuck up. Oh and have your priorities straight please. You don’t always have to work allright? People who are saying they are always ‘busy’ just make me tired. We are all busy okay? But that doesn’t mean you have to leave things and never do them. Or that you can’t be with your friends anymore. Prioritize. And again: use the planner.
3: Use stickers or markers
If you’ve done something from your list that’s in your planner (here he is again!), you can mark it with a fun marker. Like a pink one. So that you know that you’ve done that and that you don’t have to think about that anymore. You can also use stickers if that’s what you like, but I prefer markers. Super quick and easy.
4: Use it
I have a friend who had a proper planner in college, but it was completely empty. For fuck’s sake, use the planner.
If you follow these steps you will be a master planner. Just like me 😉
