It’s not really a new kinda topic, but manspreading is really a thing. And it’s driving me insane. But can we do something about it?
Let’s make some things clear here. Trains are not very spacious. There is no time and no space for spreading, laying down, making out or snoring. Even though that is very clear to mostly everybody (#fingerscrossed), still not everybody does something with this very known information. In fact, people shit on this kind of information. I don’t want to discriminate people, but I’m mostly talking about men. It’s very common that men have a bigger and bulkier body than women a.k.a. they take more space than you would like. We, women, always make space for other people, while men only take space. And not a little, but A LOT. Somehow they think they can spread their legs and touch yours and be inappropriate and just rude. Why do you need to spread like that? Do they think that their crotch is to big to keep their legs together?
Let’s move to the top body now, because men don’t only take way too much space below the belt, they also take even MORE space with their upper body. Sitting all wide and it’s basically like they are posing for a body building competition, while in real life they look more like a asparagus. But here’s the thing, they want you to THINK that they are bulky by sitting bulky. But then the reality comes to life, where men are just basically being rude and taking up all the space in the train. Hello! I’m sitting here too you know! So how can we fix this? I love bulky men, trust me. But you don’t have to sit bulky and big right? Or don’t they have a choice? Maybe I should ask.
