I went to see the movie ‘mother!’ the other night and it’s safe to say that it wasn’t a typical movie. But what I noticed more is that people walked out on the movie and were complainig about that it was ‘the worst movie they’ve ever seen’. The movie was absurd and different, but that doesn’t make it bad right? Why do people instantly walk away when things are different?
I thought the movie was really interesting and nothing like I have ever seen before. Yes, it was absurd and strange, but so what? Why walk away?
It’s not just with movies, but I notice it more and more that people turn their head or walk away when things (movies, people, food etc.) are different or sometimes a little ‘weird’. But why? Why not be open for new things, new experiences and doing and trying different stuff. Just because something is nothing like you have ever experienced is immediatly worth to walk away and just basically ignore it.
It happens with people to. It’s very well known that people who are different than others have a bigger chance to get (or got) bullied in school. How ridiculous is that? Just because some people think and do other stuff. The best thing about life is that people are different. Nobody is the same and just because someone sees things differently from you and does a ‘strange’ or ‘uncommon’ job, doesn’t mean you have to walk away from it. But why do people even do that? Ignoring or denying people that are different from others, THAT is weird.
Let’s all be more open to different or ‘weird’ things and appreciate these differences and enjoy the weirdness! I certainly enjoy weirdness 🙂
