About the band
Racoon is a Dutch band that has evolved from melodic rock band to a band focusing increasingly on a singer-songwriter like repertoire, with a prominent role for the acoustic guitar. Their biggest hits include Love You More (2005), No Mercy (2011) and Oceaan (2012).
First of all I love the venue. It’s a small venue that makes a concert more intimate, which I really like. I’m not that much of a big fan of Racoon, but they are one of the biggest band in The Netherlands. I like their songs and I thought it would be cool to go see them. They came up pretty calm and relaxed, so no big bang. No big entrance. They are so experienced and they sound amazing. Shout out to the guitar player, who is so excited that he can play. The singer has an amazing voice and he sounds amazing.
Even though the music sounds all great, it starts a little bit slowly and it stays a little tame for a while. It doesn’t really seem to get going to a peak. The last 45 minutes were better when bigger hits came along. Also the crowd seemed a little bit more awake the last part, because everybody seemed a little bit distracted, not really paying attention to the band that much. The singer has great humor as he throws jokes and mash ups in the mix which is nice and different. The highlights of the evening were when they played the hits Love You More and No Mercy, everybody sang along and were more enthusiastic all of the sudden.
Overall it was a good performance and I had a lovely evening. They play amazing, but it all stayed a little calm and relaxed. If that’s you thing, great. If you’re looking for a little bit more energy, than this is not for you.
