I saw the ballet Swan Lake by State Ballet Tatarstan in Stadsschouwburg Velsen. Read here my review.
About Swan Lake
The famous love story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, who has been turned into a swan by an evil wizard, is one of the most performed ballets in the world. The beautiful music of Tchaikovsky is performed by a live orchestra. Swan Lake is one of the most performed ballets in the world and many of the current performances are closely related to the original of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The ballet is considered one of the highlights of the classical-romantic ballet genre and is suitable for young and old, a family show par excellence.
I was so exited to finally see Swan Lake in real life and man did it not disappoint. The music, the costumes, the story, it was all very beautiful. I also was a little suprised how cheerfull it all actually was. I thought it was a sad story, I mean, it is a little, but it was performed very cheerfull and very happy. And the solo dancers, oh my they were so good. You could definitely see the difference between the solo dancers and the ‘others’. I know why they were picked to be the stars of the play, what they can do with their bodies is amazing. Loved it.
