I spend the weekend in Dublin and I absolutely loved it. I always wanted to go there and I finally booked a trip and went for it.
My friend Hanna and I spend three nights in the O’Callaghan Hotel, which is very well located. You can easily walk to the centre area, but it’s still very calm there. So if you want to go out at night, it’s like a ten to fifteen minute walk to the centre, but you still won’t have any issues with loud folks running around your hotel. Perfect.
The weather was really good, we actually had sun! Luckily I had my sunglasses with me 😛 It was really cold though, but as long as it’s not raining I’m happy and we were very lucky that weekend.
We arrived on Friday afternoon and we went straight into the city to explore. We went into the area of Grafton Street, which is a very fun area with great shops, pubs and coffee corners. There is also a lot of live music around. And then it was already time to hit the Temple Bar Area, which is THE area to go out at night. There are loads of pubs with or without live music and there is always a party going on.
On Saturday we went to the northside of the Liffey, which is the river that goes straight through the city. We explored the area around O’Connell Street which is also an area with loads of shops, bars and pastry shops. On the same day we also went for a walk next to the Liffey and also went straight to the westside of the city. We saw beautiful churches a cathedral and went to see the castle. After that we went for some relaxing coffee with some sweets. Hello, scones off course!
On Sunday we went to Howth Head, which is a small village located at the shore and is only 30 minutes away from Dublin. If you want to experience the raw coast of Ireland and have some great fish and chips, this is the place to be. We did the cliff walk of 2,5 hours, but it was so worth it. The view is so beautiful, I highly recommend you do that if you are in the area. At night we went to the Temple Bar area again obviously 😛 The Irish’ have great taste in music really. There was live music almost everywhere which was so good.
On Monday we unfortunately had to leave! I absolutely loved Dublin and I would like to come back another time 🙂
